Mendoza and around

Mendoza is the biggest city in the west of Argentina, located at the edge of the Andes. Mendoza itself is famous for its delicious wine. There are loads of vineyards in and around the city. Some very big, some smaller, but all very nice and clean. And most of them with great vines. You can go on tours and they bring to some vineyards in a row. You can also arrange it individually and just pay a bid more.

Close to Mendoza, about 200 km to the South lies Canyon San Atuel. As the name says its pretty canyonlike. A bid smaller than the Grand Canyon, I'd say. But very impressive though. With sun the stones appear in many different colours. You can also go on a boat in between the rocks.

Going to the West you reach the pass to the Andes. It leads you all the way up through winding roads and with every serpentine the view gets more impressive. It goes up to more than 3000m and you brings close to 2 km to Chile. On the way you pass by and have a look on the Aconcagua, the highest mountain in America with 6962 meters. It does not look that high from the viewing point but once you'll try to climb it I am sure it is! So this day takes you whole day, as you're really doing a lot of kilometers over the whole day.
