After hearing so many amazing things about Patagonia and already being 6 weeks in Argentina I finally went down to Patagonia. Only for a few days from Saturday to Tuesday, but better than not to go at all.
And yes all the things are true, it is indeed really amazing.
We went to the Lago Argentino area which is around the 20,000 inhabitants town El Calafate. Lago Argentino is the biggest lake in Argentina with about 1600 km². And around the lake close to the boarders to Chile there are many many Glaciers which altogether the so called Patagonian Icefield. Some of them are pretty huge. We went to the probably most famous Perito Moreno Glaciar which remains stable for the last 90 years. So we actually went on the Glacier and walked on it with Cramps. The guide said this does not harm the Glacier but well I am not so sure about is. Still it was amazing. Just ice, in all the different shapes you can imagine.
And appears so blue. Its a weird feeling to walk on those cramps that stick into the ice. A bid more tiring then just normal walking:-).
The next day we made a boat tour to three other Glaciers. And in the water around those there are swimming tons of icebergs, some very small some really huge that you don't wanna hit them with the boat. Yeah we felt a bid like on the Titanic. And then the glaciers in background. But just a look pictures yourself. Oh yeah, horsebackriding at the Argentine Lake was nice as well.
My second time in life riding a horse, was still a bid sure when the horse moves faster. But fun definitely.
