Colonia

We tried to escape the Buenos Aires Smog by going to Uruguay. So we took the early ferry on Saturday and it only took us 50 Minutes by Speed Boat to go to Colonia which lies opposite of Buenos Aires, just at the other side of the Rio del Plata. But as it is actually not for away from Buenos Aires the smoke was still there. At least the sun managed to get through it so it was a nice day.

And Colonia is nice too. A small quite village with loads of cobblestone pavements, nice cafes and restaurants, introspective houses and beautiful beaches. So quite and and with its own charme you almost feel like in a dream world. Not surprisingly the old city centre is part of the world culture heritage.
We actually wanted to rent a buggy to go through the city but of course the time we got the idea they were all taken. So there were only bikes left for us. Well it bid more exhausting as it goes up and down in the city. But actually it was kind of good for me as all the tasty meat and all the sweets here make it more difficult to stay in shape. See the picture of the chicken breast with pineapple sauce as the prove.

BA can sometimes overwhelm you and that is why there are a lot of places in the countryside where you can go for the weekend. When I travelled to Argentina, I had decided to rent an apartment in buenos aires to get to know the city in depth. During the week, everybody was working so I would visit everything doing all the typical stuff. On the weekends, everything was full of people so I would go to the suburbs and have a nice quiet time in the small towns!
